Christian was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Academy of Our Lady of Peace only posted a batting average of .176.
Meanwhile, Cathedral Catholic earned a 9-5 win over Academy of Our Lady of Peace on Wednesday.
Sophia Clark spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on one hit and racked up nine Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in 12 consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Riley Marlin was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, two doubles, and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Kayla Walton, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run.
Christian is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-4-1 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Cathedral Catholic, their win bumped their record up to 13-6.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Thursday. Christian hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.7 home runs per game. However, it's not like Cathedral Catholic struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.5 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
