The Patrick Henry Patriots will head out on the road to challenge the Wauseon Indians at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Patrick Henry is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.4 runs per game this season.
Patrick Henry will bounce into Thursday's matchup after beating Archbold, who they had gone 1-6 against in their seven prior meetings. The Patriots came out on top against the Blue Streaks by a score of 4-1 on Monday.
Mack Hieber spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on six hits and racked up 11 Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Patrick Henry saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mason Jardine, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one double.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Wauseon). They walked away with a 10-5 victory over Evergreen on Monday. The win was some much needed relief for the Indians as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.
Thad Reckner was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits. Reckner was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI.
In other batting news, Jack Altstaetter was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. He also put up a double, which was his first of the season. Ike Conrad was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI.
Wauseon was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .424. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Evergreen only posted a batting average of .214.
Patrick Henry's record is now 5-2-1. As for Wauseon, they picked up their first road victory, bumping their record up to 2-3.
Patrick Henry's speedy runners might be the difference in Thursday's contest. The Patriots have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.4 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Wauseon, though, as they've been averaging only 0.4 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Patrick Henry continue to outrun the ball?
Patrick Henry was able to grind out a solid win over Wauseon in their previous matchup back in April of 2025, winning 8-5. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Patriots since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
