The Haslett Vikings waltzed into their contest on Wednesday with five straight wins but they left with six. In a tight contest that could have gone either way, they made off with a 56-55 win over DeWitt. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Haslett found their leader in underclassman Christina Dixon, who scored 19 points along with six rebounds and three steals. Dixon hasn't dropped below 15points for five straight games. Alexis Turner was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with two steals.
Haslett pushed their record up to 8-3 with that victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.0 points per game. As for DeWitt, their defeat ended a 12-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-2.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Haslett won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Eastern at 7:00 p.m. on January 18th. Eastern will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Michigan Rankings (they are ranked 610th, while Haslett is ranked 54th). As for DeWitt, they will head out on the road to take on East Lansing at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
