Andy Molina-Sosa was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Our Lady of Mount Carmel is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 1-2 otherwise. Molina-Sosa was even better at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. He also put up a triple, which was his first of the season.
In other pitching news, Ethyn Street looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 12 over four innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Our Lady of Mount Carmel is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 1-2 otherwise.
Back at the plate, Keith Smith was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Our Lady of Mount Carmel is undefeated when Smith posts two or more runs, but 1-2 otherwise. Lance Gregory was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-2.
Our Lady of Mount Carmel was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .409. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, St. Mary's came up short against McDonogh on Monday and fell 10-5.
St. Mary's now has a losing record of 2-3. As for Our Lady of Mount Carmel, their victory bumped their record up to 4-2.
Our Lady of Mount Carmel suffered a grim 21-3 defeat to St. Mary's in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Can Our Lady of Mount Carmel avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
