Hunter Judy made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed seven innings while giving up four earned (and two unearned) runs off ten hits. He has been consistent : he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3. That's the most runs he has posted over his last 11 contests.
In other batting news, Mason Tyler and Tilden Riley did most of the damage at the plate: Tyler scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4, while Riley scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. That's the most stolen bases Riley has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Landon Kuck, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base and two RBI.
Orangeburg Prep always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .553. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as St. John's Christian Academy only posted an OBP of .414.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Patrick Henry Academy). They put the hurt on Providence Athletic Club with a sharp 13-2 victory on Wednesday. The Patriots not only won on Wednesday, but they posted their biggest win since April 30, 2024.
Jacob Corley made a splash no matter where he played. He pitched three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. Corley was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring four runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. He is becoming a predictor of Patrick Henry Academy's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 4-7 when he doesn't).
In other batting news, Sims Brunson was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Patrick Henry Academy is undefeated when Brunson posts two or more runs, but 4-7 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Briar Long, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and one stolen base.
The win was the third in a row for Patrick Henry Academy, bringing their record up to 7-7. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games. As for Orangeburg Prep, they are on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 16 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-3 record this season.
Orangeburg Prep came up short against Patrick Henry Academy when the teams last played back in April of 2016, falling 6-3. Can the Indians avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
