This season hasn't been kind to the First Baptist Academy Eagles, who are still winless after their 11th match. They fell to Berean Christian 77-72. While losing is never fun, First Baptist Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 428th, while Berean Christian is ranked 203rd).
Berean Christian was led to victory by Connor Copeland and Nate Ballinger. Copeland scored 24 points along with three steals, while Ballinger dropped a double-double on 22 points and 14 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Copeland has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Deonte Smith, who scored 12 points along with seven rebounds and five assists.
First Baptist Academy bumped their record down to 0-11 with that loss, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Berean Christian, the victory (which was their 11th in a row) raised their record to 15-4.
First Baptist Academy will look to defend their home court on Saturday against Grace Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. As for Berean Christian, they will head out on the road to square off against King's Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
