Enochs is on a nine-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while Gregori is on a four-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Eagles will host the Jaguars at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Enochs knows how to get runs on the board -- the squad has finished with ten runs or more in their past six contests -- so hopefully Gregori likes a good challenge.
Enochs' pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Pitman as they made off with a 10-0 win. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six games by six runs or more this season.
Not much got past Kaylee Ruiz, who gave up just a hit and racked up eight Ks to keep Pitman off the board. Ruiz has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one hit in four consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Enochs let Makayla Alailima and Soraya Mendoza run wild. Alailima scored three runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-3, while Mendoza scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was Joella Amezcua, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2.
Enochs hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least four batters in 12 consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Gregori earned an 8-4 victory over Turlock on Tuesday.
Allyson Conway spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four runs (all of which were unearned) on four hits.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Angelina Hoffman, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. Ariana Aguirre was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.
Gregori is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-2 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.9 runs over those games. As for Enochs, their victory bumped their record up to 11-3.
Thursday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Enochs has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .460. However, it's not like Gregori struggles in that department as they've averaged .483. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Enochs came out on top in a nail-biter against Gregori in their previous matchup back in March, sneaking past 1-0. Will the Eagles repeat their success, or do the Jaguars have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
