2A District 5 recap September 17, 2013
Carrollwood Day scaled the state rankings by moving to 319 from 390 this week, the biggest jump in 2A District 5. The Patriots climbed the ranks as a result of defeating Shorecrest Prep 49-22.
Canterbury added to the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Keswick Christian, 47-7. This was the team's fourth consecutive win.
Carrollwood Day's dynamic duo of Taylor King and Michael Smith proved tough for the Chargers to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. King threw for 309 yards and 3 touchdowns and Smith had 197 yards receiving. Max Frankel helped Carrollwood Day's passing attack out by catching 4 balls for 56 yards.
Lane Mclaughlin's team's dynamic duo of King and Smith proved to be unstoppable against Shorecrest Prep, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week.
Garrett Young was the most successful running back in the league this week. He ran for 152 yards on 16 carries as Cambridge Christian bested Dave Moore's team. Teammate Andrew Cunningham added to the ground attack by rushing for 93 yards.
Smith was the best receiver in 2A District 5 this week as Carrollwood Day defeated the Chargers.
King put up the best numbers through the air as the Patriots beat Shorecrest Prep.
6-foot-1 quarterback Young of the Lancers is the league leader in passing yards this season with 714. He has also thrown 8 touchdowns. The leading receiver in the league this season is Smith. The Carrollwood Day star has 12 catches for 331 yards.

Bradenton Christian and Imagine played the closest game in the league this week, with Bradenton Christian eventually emerging with a 46-43 victory. Joey Giardina threw for 281 yards and 3 touchdowns and ran for 15 yards during the win.
