Boyd (Texas) took the lead for the win when
Fino Cardona ran for a touchdown with less than a minute remaining in the fifth quarter and held on to upset
Bowie (Texas) 42-34 on Saturday.
The Jackrabbits pulled ahead on a rushing touchdown, and subsequently went into halftime leading 12-6. The Yellowjackets scored the winning points with a Cardona touchdown run that came in the fifth quarter.
The defeat comes as a step back for Bowie, which notched a 42-24 victory over Alvord in its previous outing. The victory was a step in the right direction for Boyd, which was coming off a 55-35 defeat at the hands of Sanger in its previous game. The loss broke Bowie's two-game winning streak.
Boyd (1-4) goes up against Pilot Point in a 2A-1 Region II District 5 game matchup next week, while Bowie (2-3) locks horns with Ponder also in a 2A-1 Region II District 5 game.
