The Mingus Marauders will venture away from home to face off against the Shadow Mountain Matadors at 3:45 p.m. on Friday. Mingus is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.2 runs per game this season.
Last Tuesday, Mingus made easy work of Goldwater and carried off a 13-1 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Marauders.
Kaden Pusl was a major factor no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. Pusl was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing Two bases. while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.
In other batting news, Xzayvier Buckner and Silas Scott did most of the damage at the plate: Buckner scored three runs and stole Four bases. while going 3-for-4, while Scott went 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Buckner continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Juan Munoz, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.
Mingus always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .553. The last time their OBP was this high was back in March of 2024.
Meanwhile, Shadow Mountain came up short against Agua Fria on Thursday, falling 13-3.
Shadow Mountain saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Alex Forkum, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.
Shadow Mountain's loss was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-3-1. As for Mingus, their record now sits at 2-3.
Mingus' speedy runners might be the difference in Friday's match. Mingus has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.6 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Shadow Mountain, though, as they've been averaging only 1.2 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Mingus continue to outrun the ball?
Mingus took their victory against Shadow Mountain when the teams last played back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 18-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for Mingus since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
