There's no place like home for the Leo Lions, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Friday. They walked away with a 60-53 victory over Fort Wayne Bishop Dwenger on Tuesday. For Leo, this counts as revenge for the 39-33 defeat the Saints walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January of 2023.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Leo to victory, but perhaps none more so than Malina Lape, who scored 16 points along with six assists and three steals. Lape continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last four games she's played. Kayla Adams was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with six rebounds.
Several Saints players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Izzie Eke, who scored 17 points along with five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Taylor Aselage, who scored six points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Even though they lost, Fort Wayne Bishop Dwenger smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Leo only pulled down five offensive rebounds.
Leo's win bumped their record up to 12-7. As for Fort Wayne Bishop Dwenger, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-14.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Leo will take on the Braves at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Fort Wayne Bishop Dwenger, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Archers at 6:00 p.m. Fort Wayne South Side is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak.
