The Fowler Grizzlies scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Saturday. They put the hurt on Swink with a sharp 65-41 victory. Fowler pushed the score to 55-28 by the end of the third, a deficit Swink cut but never quite recovered from.
Fowler got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Gage Gottbehuet out in front who scored 14 points along with five assists and two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Wyatt Bates, who scored 13 points.
Swink's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Nathaniel Cabrera, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds. That was a full 39% of Swink's points, marking the fifth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Nicholas Paolucci, who scored 12 points.
Swink struggled to work together and finished the game with only an assist. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Fowler racked up 12 assists.
The win makes it two in a row for Fowler and bumps their season record up to 11-5. As for Swink, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-11.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Fowler will face off against Hoehne at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Hoehne focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 on Monday. As for Swink, they will head out on the road to take on Las Animas at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The timing is sure in Las Animas' favor as the squad sits on three straight wins at home while Swink has been banged up by four consecutive losses on the road.
