Tippecanoe Valley is on a three-game streak of home losses, and Peru a four-game streak of away losses. However, someone's due for a change in luck on Friday. The Tippecanoe Valley Vikings will be home for the holidays to greet the Peru Tigers at 7:30 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.
Tippecanoe Valley came up short against Elkhart on Tuesday, falling 55-31. While losing is never fun, the Vikings can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 170th, while the Lions are ranked 43rd).
Despite their defeat, Tippecanoe Valley saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Owen Omondi, who posted eight points, was perhaps the best of all. Wes Parker was another key player, putting up four points.
Meanwhile, Peru scored the most points they've had this season on Tuesday, but it wasn't enough. They might have been a little too into the holiday spirit, gifting Fort Wayne South Side an easy 91-68 win. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Friday (63), the Tigers still had to take the loss.
Like Tippecanoe Valley, Peru lost despite seeing results from several players. Zion See led the charge by posting 25 points and five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Reis Bellar, who put up 13 points in addition to eight boards and six assists.
Peru's loss dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Tippecanoe Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to an identical 0-5.
Tippecanoe Valley strolled past Peru in their previous matchup back in December of 2024 by a score of 58-41. Do the Vikings have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Tigers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
