Softball Recap: Whitwell's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Whitwell's game last Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. They put the hurt on the Rhea County Golden Eagles with a sharp 10-2 victory. The result was nothing new for the Tigers, who have now won three matchups by eight runs or more so far this season.

Jasie Willis spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on four hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Kasie Britton was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run and three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. Ella Grace Harvey was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3.

Whitwell was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .423. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

With the win, Whitwell broke their five-game losing streak and moved their record to 3-6. As for Rhea County, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-8.

Whitwell didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 10-1 defeat against Sequatchie County on the 4th. As for Rhea County, they will welcome Bledsoe County at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Warriors will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Golden Eagles surely won't give up without a fight.
