You can't lose the contest if you win every quarter, and that was precisely the North Callaway Thunderbirds's strategy against the Fayette Falcons on Wednesday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that North Callaway blew the Falcons out of the water with a 59-29 final score. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 39-15.
It was another big night for Sam Pezold, who scored 24 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. He hasn't dropped below two steals for eight straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Levi Drake, who scored ten points along with five assists and three steals.
Carter Vroman and Payton Oeth certainly did their best on Wednesday to avoid the loss. Vroman dropped a double-double on ten points and 15 rebounds, while Oeth dropped a double-double on ten points and 12 rebounds.
North Callaway has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 6-14 record this season. As for Fayette, they are on a eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-16.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. North Callaway will take on the Indians at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Elsberry will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak. As for Fayette, they and the Wildcats will face off at 7:00 p.m. on February 6th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hopefully New Bloomfield focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 23 on Friday.
