Basketball Recap: Ayden Padgett's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Liberty over Heritage

Liberty lost against Heritage back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Liberty Minutemen lost 60-40 to the Heritage Pioneers. While losing is never fun, the Minutemen can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 327th, while the Pioneers are ranked 158th).

Liberty lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Ayden Padgett, who posted 11 points and six boards. Padgett is also crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Evan Lee, who had seven points and nine rebounds.

Liberty dropped their record down to 2-6 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight at home. As for Heritage, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-6.

Liberty didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 55-53 win against Altavista on the 15th. As for Heritage, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 49-47 victory against Fleming on the 15th.
