Basketball Recap: Jayla Thompson's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Bourgeois over Hahnville

After flying high against Central Lafourche last Wednesday, Bourgeois came back down to earth. The Bourgeois Braves fell 38-30 to the Hahnville Tigers on Tuesday. The Braves have struggled against the Tigers recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.

Bourgeois lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Jayla Thompson, who went 5 of 12 en route to 13 points and four steals. Thompson is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Talasia White, who posted six points.

Bourgeois' defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 18-7. As for Hahnville, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 14-9.

Bourgeois will face off against Destrehan at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Bourgeois is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51.8 points per game this season. As for Hahnville, they will head out to take on Thibodaux at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
