Fruitvale hasn't had much luck against Kerens recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. Fruitvale will be taking part in a tournament against Kerens at 2:20 p.m. Kerens took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Fruitvale, who comes in off a win.
Fruitvale is headed into the game having just posted their closest victory since April 8, 2025 on Saturday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-5 win over Blue Ridge.
The team relied heavily on Abi Dry, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two doubles, one stolen base, and one run. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. Xandria Smith was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
Fruitvale hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They are 4-1 when they post two or more strikeouts.
Meanwhile, Kerens came up short against Carlisle on Monday, falling 26-13. Even if the Bobcats couldn't come away with the victory, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their hitters, which had struggled int the games prior.
Kayla Gonzales and Madison Dunham stepped up to the plate in a big way. Gonzales went 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles, while Dunham went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. Another player making a difference was Jasmine Cruz, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs.
Fruitvale's win bumped their record up to 6-7. As for Kerens, their loss dropped their record down to 3-6.
Fruitvale couldn't quite get it done against Kerens in their previous meeting back in February of 2024 as they fell 4-1. Can Fruitvale avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
