The Moniteau Warriors are taking a road trip to take on the DuBois Central Catholic Cardinals at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Moniteau has struggled recently with four defeats in a row, while DuBois Central Catholic will arrive with three straight victories.
On Monday, Moniteau didn't have quite enough to beat Karns City and fell 5-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Warriors have suffered against the Gremlins since May 3, 2021.
Moniteau saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Beau Stewart, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI.
DuBois Central Catholic let Brockway stack five runs on them in the fifth inning on Monday but luckily DuBois Central Catholic prevailed anyway. The Cardinals came out on top against the Rovers by a score of 10-7. Ten seems to be a good number for the Cardinals as the team scooped up a win with the same number of runs in their previous game.
Carter Himes made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out six batters over 3.1 innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits (and only one walk). Himes was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run.
In other batting news, Brayden Zatsick was excellent, going 1-for-2 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in May of 2024. Marek Hoyt was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one double.
DuBois Central Catholic always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .538. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Brockway only posted an OBP of .364.
DuBois Central Catholic's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-3. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. As for Moniteau, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-9.
