It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Largo Packers had no problem doing just that on Friday. They came out on top against East Bay by a score of 25-14. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Largo also won the last time the pair played back in November of 2022.
Largo had a senior duo take command as Jeremy Thomas rushed for 151 yards and two touchdowns and Malachi Peterson gained 215 total yards and a touchdown.
Largo's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-2. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 1-8 Gibbs and 2-9 Lakewood (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 37.1% over those games). As for East Bay, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-3.
Largo will look to defend their home field on Friday against Gaither at 7:30 p.m. One thing working in Gaither's favor is that they have now posted big point totals in their last six contests. East Bay does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
