Softball Recap: Wiregrass Ranch's Victory on Monday Extends Winning Streak to Five

Wiregrass Ranch waltzed into their game on Monday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They were the clear victors by a 17-7 margin over the Zephyrhills Christian Academy Warriors. The Bulls might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matchups by ten runs or more this season.

Kayla Valentin made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out 11 batters over five innings while giving up three earned runs off only one hit. Valentin was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in February of 2024.

In other batting news, Zoe Troupe was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances. She continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Aurora Thompson, who scored two runs while getting on base in both of her plate appearances.

Wiregrass Ranch always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .688. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Zephyrhills Christian Academy only posted an OBP of .414.

Wiregrass Ranch's record is now 9-3. As for Zephyrhills Christian Academy, their defeat was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-7.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Wiregrass Ranch will venture away from home to square off against Sunlake at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Wiregrass Ranch's pitchers better be ready for this one: Sunlake has averaged an impressive 7.5 runs per game this season. As for Zephyrhills Christian Academy, they will head out to face off against Grace Christian at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Grace Christian's pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so Zephyrhills Christian Academy's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
