Charlotte Christian is returning home triumphant after the team finally put their road woes behind them against Charlotte Country Day School on Friday. The Knights strolled past the Buccaneers with points to spare, taking the game 55-38. The Knights haven't had any issues with the Buccaneers recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive victory against them.
Jamal Rule was his usual excellent self, rushing for 284 yards and four TDs while picking up 15.8 yards per carry. He really tore up the turf during one magnificent 90-yard run.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Charlotte Christian was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 330 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in September of 2024.
On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Charlotte Christian's defensive line and their six sacks. Leading the way was Mj Barrow with two.
Meanwhile, while Providence Day put up plenty of points on Friday, the same can't be said for Charlotte Latin. The Chargers breezed past the Hawks to the tune of 41-0. The Chargers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matchups by 21 points or more this season.
Charlotte Christian better keep an eye on Zaid Lott. He was instrumental in Providence Day's win, rushing for 134 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only eight carries, while also throwing for 38 yards and one TD. Aidan Gallos was another key player, rushing for 78 yards and one score on only nine carries.
The win got Charlotte Christian back to even at 4-4. As for Providence Day, their victory bumped their record up to 8-0.
Friday's game might be decided on the ground. Charlotte Christian has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 156.2 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Providence Day struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 190.4 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's contest turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Charlotte Christian couldn't quite get it done against Providence Day in their previous matchup back in November of 2024 as they fell 28-20. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Lott, who threw for 272 yards and a pair of touchdowns while completing 72.4% of his passes, and also rushed for 66 yards and one score. Now that the Knights know the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
