Even though the Golden Sierra Grizzlies have not done well against the Vacaville Christian Falcons recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Golden Sierra walked away with a 58-46 victory over the Falcons. For Golden Sierra, this counts as revenge for the 50-43 loss the Falcons walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January.
Patrick Bingham continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a triple-double on 20 points, 24 rebounds, and ten steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of Golden Sierra's points. William Drescher was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with five rebounds.
Vacaville Christian lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Siifan Ayana, who scored 13 points along with two steals. Another player making a difference was Brian Laxamana, who scored eight points along with 11 rebounds and two blocks.
Golden Sierra is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a massive bump to their 7-14 record this season. As for Vacaville Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 8-11.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Golden Sierra's homestand continues as they prepare to take on the Scots at 7:30 p.m. on January 30th. Highlands has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last five games. As for Vacaville Christian, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Rams at 7:30 p.m. Rio Vista knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past nine contests -- so hopefully the Falcons like a good challenge.
