The St. John Tigers were the 48-43 winner over the South Central Timberwolves when they last played one another back in February of 2020, but their luck changed this time around. St. John had to suffer through a rough 61-23 loss at the hands of South Central. While losing is never fun, St. John can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 113th, while South Central is ranked 17th).
Despite the loss, St. John still got an impressive performance from Quade smith, who scored 15 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points smith has scored all season.
St. John's loss dropped their record down to 2-1. As for South Central, the victory (which was their fourth in a row dating back to last season) raised their record to 3-0.
St. John will be staying on the road on Saturday to face off against Larned. South Central won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Reno County HomeSchool at 5:00 p.m. on December 9th. One thing working in Reno County HomeSchool's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last five games.
