Basketball Recap: Derby Skates Past North with Ease

With a playoff win on the line, Derby rose to the challenge on Wednesday. They blew past the North RedHawks, posting an 82-10 victory. The Panthers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 12 contests by 25 points or more this season.

It was another big night for Macayla Askew, who dropped a double-double with 15 points and 17 boards. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in rebounds. Another player making a difference was Maya Harris, who shot 63% from the field on her way to 10 points and three steals.

Derby smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 24 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in nine consecutive matches.

Derby's win bumped their record up to 18-3. As for North, they are on a 13-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-20.

Looking ahead, Derby will host Garden City at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. Derby has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. North does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
