NORTH PLATTE, Neb. -
Grand Island (Neb.) notched 14 points on top of its 35-point lead going into the fourth quarter to win against North Platte (Neb.) 49-0.
After taking the lead on a touchdown pass by
Pierce Almond to
Trevor Wojtalewicz in the first quarter, the Islanders led 21-0 at the half.
Grand Island grew its lead to 35 points entering the fourth quarter. GI scored two times in the third, including once on a touchdown pass by Almond to
Andrew Rojas.
Grand Island's most effective player was Almond. The junior quarterback threw two touchdowns. He has now scored six touchdowns on the season.
Grand Island had given up an average of 16.9 points prior to the contest.
Last season's game between the teams resulted in a 28-10 win for GI.
North Platte (0-8) will play an A District 4 game against Kearney next week, while Grand Island (7-1) will take on Lincoln also in an A District 4 game.
