With a playoff game on the line, the Yelm Tornados rose to the challenge on Saturday. They didn't even let the Crusaders onto the board and left with a 7-0 win. Yelm's victory was nothing new given the team hasn't lost yet this season.
Brayden Platt was on fire: he rushed for 219 yards and a touchdown while picking up 8.1 yards per carry. Platt was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 54 yards.
The team's defense also helped out by holding Eastside Catholic to a paltry 47 yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to Yelm's ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid the passer out eight times before it was all said and done. The heavy lifting was done by Kenji Scanlan and Isaiah Patterson who racked up five sacks between them.
Yelm pushed their record up to 13-0 with that win, which was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season. They've been dominating during the matchups in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 40.56 points. As for Eastside Catholic, their loss dropped their record down to 9-3.
Yelm's homestand continues as they prepare to take on Bellevue at 7:00 p.m. on December 1st. The pair have allowed few points on average, (Bellevue: 16.7, Yelm: 8.9) so any points scored will be well earned. Eastside Catholic does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
