The Roseburg Indians will venture away from home to face off against the Gresham Gophers at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams are coming into the match red-hot, with Roseburg sitting on seven straight wins and Gresham on three.
Roseburg is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Oregon's top teams: Willamette, who was ranked 18th at the time (Roseburg was ranked fourth). The Indians' pitcher stepped up to hand the Wolverines a 12-0 shutout on Tuesday. With that victory, the Indians brought their scoring average up to 6.1 runs per game.

Ciera Singleton and Cambria Bachmeier did most of the damage at the plate: Singleton went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI, while Bachmeier went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Those three runs gave Singleton a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Terra Singleton, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.
They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: Roseburg lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Gresham). They were the clear victors by a 19-1 margin over Molalla last Tuesday. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Gophers with their most commanding win of the season.
Keira Downing made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out seven over five innings pitched. Downing was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one double. Those hits were her first of the season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on La Terra Foster-Frison, who fired off two home runs, seven RBI, and four runs while going 3-for-4. Those home runs marked the first that she launched this season. Rylee Gaffeny was another key player, scoring three runs while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances.
Gresham now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Roseburg, their win bumped their record up to 7-0.
Gresham's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Thursday. Roseburg has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 12.1 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Gresham, though, as they've been averaging only 4 strikeouts. Will Roseburg keep running through batters, or will the Gophers buck the trend?
Everything went Roseburg's way against Gresham in their previous matchup back in March of 2024, as Roseburg made off with an 11-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Indians since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
