Heritage is a perfect 10-0 against Lenoir City since March of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Mountaineers will look to defend their home field against the Panthers at 6:30 p.m. Heritage will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.
On Monday, Heritage got the win against Hixson by a conclusive 13-3. Considering the Mountaineers have won 12 matchups by more than seven runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
The team relied heavily on Autumn Brooke Perrin, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Brooke Gennoe, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Heritage kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Lenoir City was able to grind out a solid win over Soddy Daisy on Tuesday, taking the game 6-3.
Kymbal Williams spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on five hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Kylee Hanson was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. The team also got some help courtesy of Reagan Helton, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Heritage pushed their record up to 25-8 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. As for Lenoir City, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-11 record this season.
Lenoir City's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Wednesday. Heritage has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.6 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Lenoir City, though, as they've been averaging only 3 strikeouts. Will Heritage keep running through batters, or will the Panthers buck the trend?
Heritage beat Lenoir City 4-1 in their previous matchup on Wednesday. Will the Mountaineers repeat their success, or do the Panthers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
