TUCSON, Ariz. -
Salpointe Catholic (Tucson, Ariz.) extended its winning streak to nine games with a 48-9 victory over Ironwood Ridge (Tucson, Ariz.) on Saturday.
After taking the lead on a rushing touchdown in the first quarter, the Lancers were up 27-3 at the half.
Salpointe Catholic grew its lead to 39 points entering the fourth quarter. SC scored three times in the third, including once on a touchdown run by
Cameron Denson.
Ironwood Ridge's only touchdown came on a 1-yard pass in the third quarter.
The Lancers had given up an average of 4.6 points prior to the contest. Ironwood Ridge's nine points were well below their season average of 32.6 per game.
Last season's game between the teams resulted in a 30-14 win for Salpointe Catholic.
The loss was the third in a row for Ironwood Ridge.
In a II Section V game next week Ironwood Ridge (5-4) takes on Vista Grande, and Salpointe Catholic (9-0) will go up against Tucson High Magnet School also in a II Section V game.
