Meanwhile, Concord's game on Saturday was all tied up 28-28 at the half, but sadly for them it didn't stay that way. They and Irvington were almost perfectly matched up, but the Bears suffered a 43-42 loss. The Bears were up 42-28 in the third quarter but couldn't hold on to the lead.
Mt. Eden will need to focus on slowing down Juan Gonzalez, one of several Concord players who made an impact when they last played. He threw for 316 yards and four TDs while completing 77.3% of his passes. Concord's leading receiver Erik Madayag was Gonzalez's top target yet again, picking up 109 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns.
Concord's defeat dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Mt. Eden, their loss dropped their record down to 1-3.
