The Pagosa Springs Pirates are taking a road trip to take on the Cedaredge Bruins at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
Last Saturday, everything went Pagosa Springs' way against Dolores as Pagosa Springs made off with a 24-9 win. The Pirates haven't had any issues with the Bears recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.
Taylor Wells made a splash no matter where he played. He tossed two innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run but no hits. Wells was also big at the plate, scoring three runs while getting on base in five of his six plate appearances.

In other batting news, Cooper Ralston was incredible, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Zach Pouyer, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.
Pagosa Springs was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .438. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Dolores only posted a batting average of .267.
Meanwhile, Cedaredge got the win against Salida on Wednesday by a conclusive 13-3.
Like Pagosa Springs, Cedaredge also got a great game from a two-way player: Brady Cooper. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing four innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. Cooper was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.
In other pitching news, Carson Branham looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Those zero hits allowed gave him a new career-low.
Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Carson Rupp, who scored a run and stole Three bases. while going 1-for-3.
Pagosa Springs' record now sits at 2-0. As for Cedaredge, their win ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 1-1.
Pagosa Springs beat Cedaredge 8-3 in their previous matchup back in March of 2023. Does Pagosa Springs have another victory up their sleeve, or will Cedaredge turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
