Central has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will face off against the Starr's Mill Panthers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Central knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past seven matches -- so hopefully Starr's Mill likes a good challenge.
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Central had no problem doing just that on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Lions 38-10 at home. The result was nothing new for Central, who have now won six matches by 20 points or more so far this season.
Jonaz Walton continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 155 yards and two touchdowns on only 15 carries. Walton hasn't dropped below two rushing touchdowns for three straight games.
Meanwhile, Starr's Mill had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 38.8 points), and they went ahead and made it six on Friday. They took down New Hampstead 45-27.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Starr's Mill to victory, but perhaps none more so than Dorsey Benefield, who rushed for 187 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 10.4 yards per carry. Benefield was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 59 yards. Logan Inagawa was another key contributor, rushing for 67 yards and two touchdowns.
Central has yet to lose a game at home this season, leaving them with a 12-0 record. They've been dominating during the games in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 26.2 points. As for Starr's Mill, their victory bumped their record up to 9-3.
Friday's matchup might be decided on the ground as these two are both standouts in the run game. Central has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 221.6 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Starr's Mill struggles in that department as they've been averaging 194.8 per game. It's looking like Friday's matchup might have some serious battles in the trenches.
