The Ruidoso Warriors will take on the Dexter Demons at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Dexter will be up against a hot Ruidoso team: the squad just extended their winning streak to three. Everything went the Warriors' way against Sandia Prep on Monday as they made off with a 7-1 victory.
Jaya Trujillo spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Ruidoso got a big performance out of Dustine Alvarado, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Baylor Pritchett was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one double.
Ruidoso always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .545. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .545 or higher in three consecutive contests.
15 must be Dexter's lucky number: they beat Sandia Prep with that score not once but twice on Wednesday. The Demons didn't even let the Sundevils on the board, marking the Demons' second-straight 15-0 shutout. The Demons haven't had any issues with the Sundevils recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.
Danyela Munoz was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Munoz was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs and two RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Issabellah Aguilar, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Hannah Sanders, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI and one run.
Dexter's victory was their 18th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 21-2. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.1 runs over those games. As for Ruidoso, their victory bumped their record up to 19-4.
Both Ruidoso and Dexter just can't seem to miss. The Warriors have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.7 hits per game. However, it's not like Dexter struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 3 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Ruidoso came up short against Dexter in their previous meeting back in April, falling 10-6. Will the Warriors have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
