Cleveland (Rio Rancho, N.M.) snapped the four-game winning streak of
Cibola (Albuquerque, N.M.), with a 14-0 victory on Saturday.
After taking the lead on a kick return touchdown by
Gabe Ortega in the first quarter, the Storm led 6-0 at the half.
Cleveland grew its lead to 14 points entering the fourth quarter. The Rio Rancho school scored two times in the third, including once on a
Kian Homme touchdown pass to
Marcus Williams.
The Storm came into the game allowing 12.0 points per game. Cibola's zero points were well below their season average of 27.6 per game.
Last season's game between the teams resulted in a 54-16 win for Cleveland.
The loss comes after Cibola defeated Manzano 10-6 last week.
In a 5A District 1 game next week Cibola (5-3) takes on Rio Rancho, and Cleveland (7-1) will go up against Volcano Vista also in a 5A District 1 game.
