The Jacobs Golden Eagles lost against the Central Rockets back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The contest between Jacobs and Central wasn't particularly close, with Jacobs falling 59-44. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Jacobs in their matchups with Central: they've now lost nine in a row.
Jacobs' defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Nolan Roper, who scored 12 points along with three blocks and two steals. Another player making a difference was Treval Howard, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds.
Central got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Lj Kerr out in front who scored 17 points along with five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Patrick Shell, who scored 15 points along with two steals.
Jacobs' loss dropped their record down to 12-16. As for Central, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 20-9.
Jacobs didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 73-51 win vs. Alcott on the 10th. Central will head out on the road to challenge Hampshire at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Central knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past five games -- so hopefully Hampshire likes a good challenge.
