After a string of eight wins, The New Oxford Colonials''s good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They were outmatched by Fort Hill on the road and fell 49-21. While losing is never fun, New Oxford can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps's football rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 99th in Pennsylvania, while Fort Hill is ranked seventh in Maryland).
Idriz Ahmetovic and Brennan Holmes, New Oxford certainly did their best on Friday to try and avoid the loss. Ahmetovic threw for 236 yards and three touchdowns on only 13 passes, while Holmes picked up 149 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Holmes' longest reception was for an incredible 80 yards.
Jabril Daniels continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Fort Hill, rushing for 223 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 10.6 yards per carry. Daniels is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last five games he's played. Deshaun Brown was another key contributor, rushing for 33 yards and a touchdown.
New Oxford's loss dropped their record down to 8-1. As for Fort Hill, their win was their 11th straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 8-0.
New Oxford will take on Eastern York at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Fort Hill, they will head out on the road to face off against Allegany at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. Allegany is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
