Golden Empire recap Sept. 26, 2012
Dixon extended the longest winning streak in Golden Empire this week by beating Linden, 44-7. This was the team's fourth consecutive win.
Dixon moved up to 344 from 577 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. Wes Besseghini's team climbed the ranks as a result of a 44-7 win over the Lions.
Trey Belton was the best wideout in the league this week as Capital Christian lost to Amador. Belton racked up two receptions for 41 yards. Quinton Kirk helped Capital Christian's passing attack out by catching one ball for 15 yards.
Nick Bonovich was the most productive running back in Golden Empire this week. In 12 carries, he ran for 173 yards as the Rams lost to the Buffaloes. Teammate Sean Haney added to the ground attack by rushing for 140 yards.
Thanks to the talents of Kyle Worthington and Christian Garcia Mesa Verde has been able to do all sorts of things on offense. Worthington leads the league in passing with 175 yards, while Garcia has rushed for 643 yards this season. Dixon's Chad Baptiste leads the league in receiving yards with 85 on four catches.
The Rams led the league in scoring this week after putting up 44 points on Linden. Bonovich in the win.
