On Friday, East Forsyth lost to George Walton Academy on the road by a decisive 46-31 margin. While losing is never fun, East Forsyth can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 167th, while George Walton Academy is ranked 31st).
George Walton Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ashley Hill led the charge by dropping a double-double on 11 points and 13 rebounds. The matchup was Hill's tenth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Leila Mathis, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds.
East Forsyth has been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-6 record this season. As for George Walton Academy, the victory (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 9-1.
East Forsyth will finish 2023 at home by hosting Etowah at 1:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Etowah focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 last Friday. George Walton Academy's road trip will continue as they head out to face Kell at 2:30 p.m. on December 30th.
