Softball Recap: Leander Wins Going Away Against Lockhart

Fans were treated to a battle of the Lions on Friday. Leander were the clear victors by a 12-2 margin over Lockhart. The result was nothing new for Leander, who have now won 13 matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Kylee Arnold made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 13 batters over six innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Leander got a massive performance out of Avery Barnard, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most hits Barnard has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Madelyn Lee, who went 3-for-5 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Leander kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. They are a perfect 12-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Leander pushed their record up to 20-9 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average over those games. As for Lockhart, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-17.

Leander has already played their next contest, an 8-1 victory against Glenn on the 15th. As for Lockhart, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 4-0 defeat against Rouse on the 15th.
