Bangor is 9-1 against the Green Knights since February of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Bangor Slaters will be playing in front of their home fans against the Pen Argyl Green Knights at 6:45 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.
Last Saturday, Bangor was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 59-53 to the Panthers. Bangor has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Meanwhile, Pen Argyl's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their third straight defeat. They took a serious blow against Notre Dame-Green Pond, falling 70-38. While losing is never fun, Pen Argyl can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 626th, while the Crusaders are ranked 113th).
Despite the loss, Pen Argyl saw an underclassman step up: Mason Soos scored 11 points along with five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Chase Kennedy, who scored 13 points.
Pen Argyl struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. They are 1-5 when they can't control their own glass like that.
Bangor dropped their record down to 10-10 with that loss, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.3 points per game. As for Pen Argyl, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five matchups, which is still a better percentage than their 4-17 record this season.
Bangor strolled past the Green Knights in their previous matchup back in December of 2023 by a score of 47-31. Does Bangor have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Green Knights turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
