The Currituck County Knights and the Northeastern Eagles will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 19th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Currituck County entered their tilt with Northeast Academy For Aerospace and Advanced Tech with five consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with six. Currituck County breezed by Northeast Academy For Aerospace and Advanced Tech at home to the tune of 63-19. Given Currituck County's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 235th, while Northeast Academy For Aerospace and Advanced Tech is ranked 672nd), the result on Tuesday wasn't entirely unexpected.
Currituck County got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Charles Taylor out in front who scored ten points along with four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Taylor has scored all season. Tenajee Burgess was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with six rebounds and four steals.
Northeastern posted their biggest win since December 11, 2023 on Tuesday. They blew past Manteo 76-34 at home.
Currituck County is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season. As for Northeastern, they now have a winning record of 7-6.
Currituck County came up short against Northeastern when the teams last played back in February of 2023, falling 61-49. Can Currituck County avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
