2B Southeast recap Nov. 7, 2012
Waitsburg/Prescott extended the longest winning streak in 2B Southeast this week by beating Mary Walker, 47-8. The victory was the sixth in a row for the team.
Waitsburg/Prescott took down the Chargers 47-8 last week, the largest margin of any game. Sterling Eastman threw for 290 yards and four touchdowns and ran for 27 yards in the win.
James Tompkins had a great week catching the football as Jeff Bartlow's team topped Mary Walker. He caught four passes for 206 yards.
Bailey Rivas was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 30 carries, he ran for 125 yards as Tri-Cities Prep beat Mark Edwards' team. Mateo Ledesma also contributed to the rushing game with 30 yards on the ground.
Tompkins made the biggest impact on defense this week as Waitsburg/Prescott topped the Chargers. The 5-foot-7 senior pulled down two interceptions.
The Cardinals' Eastman and Dalton Estes have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Eastman has thrown for 1957 yards this season, while Estes, a 5-foot-9 receiver, has 35 catches for 662 yards. The Jaguars' Rivas leads the league in rushing yards with 1125.
Entering into this week's contest against Oroville, Eastman is short just 43 passing yards to break 2,000 on the season.
Tekoa-Oakesdale/Rosalia made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 5,948 from 6,863. The improvement was the result of 36-14 victory over Colfax last week.
