Kanab had lost eight straight, but after bumping their record up to 2-11 on Wednesday that streak is in the rearview. They won by a run and slipped past the Panguitch Bobcats 6-5. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Cowboys also won the last time the pair played back in April of 2024.

Danni Waters was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off nine hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Those two hits gave her a new career-high.
Waters wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Tessa Veater, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Marisa Jensen also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Having lost for the first time this season, Panguitch fell to 5-1. The matchup marked their lowest-scoring game so far this season.
Like Kanab, Panguitch also got a great game from a two-way player: Brooklyn Harland. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over six innings while giving up five earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits (and not a single walk). Harland was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, three doubles, and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Samantha Larson made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Jaylee Litteral, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases.
Coming up, Kanab will head out to challenge Beaver at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. The Cowboys' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Beavers have averaged an impressive 7.7 runs per game this season. As for Panguitch, they will be playing at home against Pinnacle at 2:00 p.m. on Friday. The Panthers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 19 runs per game on average), something the Bobcats will no doubt try to take advantage of.
