The Fleming County Panthers were the 61-51 winner over the Rowan County Vikings when they last played one another last Friday, but their luck changed this time around. Fleming County took a hard 79-61 fall against the Vikings on Friday. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Leading Rowan County to victory were Colby Wilburn and Brayden Mirus. Wilburn scored 25 points, while Mirus scored 24 points along with five assists and five rebounds. Mirus is trending in the right direction, as he's improved his point production for three games straight. The team also got some help courtesy of Dashawn Watson, who scored 11 points along with five assists and five rebounds.
Fleming County's loss dropped their record down to 15-7. As for Rowan County, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 14-7 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Fleming County will challenge the Saints on Saturday. St. Patrick is out to stop a seven-game streak of losses at home. As for Rowan County, they will head out on the road to challenge the Lions at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. Boyd County knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past 25 contests -- so hopefully the Vikings like a good challenge.
