The Travelers Rest Devildogs lost against the Blue Ridge Fighting Tigers back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. Travelers Rest lost to Blue Ridge at home by a decisive 52-34 margin. While losing is never fun, Travelers Rest can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 138th, while Blue Ridge is ranked 28th).
Several Devildogs players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Ellie Crain, who almost dropped a double-double on 13 points and nine rebounds. Gabriella Huskey was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with seven rebounds.
Zikira henderson was her usual excellent self, scoring 20 points along with six rebounds and two steals for Blue Ridge. Henderson is on a roll when it comes to points, as she's now scored 17 or more in the last six games she's played. Another player making a difference was Anyah Henderson, who scored nine points along with six assists and five rebounds.
This is the second loss in a row for Travelers Rest and nudges their season record down to 10-14. As for Blue Ridge, their win was their eighth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 21-4.
Travelers Rest does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Blue Ridge also has no future games currently scheduled.
