The Clinton Prairie Gophers will head out on the road to challenge the Eastern Comets at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Clinton Prairie has six straight victories, the Comets have four straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Last Thursday, Clinton Prairie was able to grind out a solid victory over the Chargin' Chargers, taking the game 54-42. Given Clinton Prairie's advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 106th, while the Chargin' Chargers are ranked 334th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Eastern ended up a good deal behind the Titans on Thursday and lost 45-30. Eastern has struggled against the Titans recently, as their contest on Thursday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Clinton Prairie pushed their record up to 12-2 with that win, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.8 points per game. As for Eastern, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-8.
Clinton Prairie and the Comets were neck-and-neck in their previous matchup back in January of 2023, but the Gophers came up empty-handed after a 63-62 loss. Can Clinton Prairie avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
