Basketball Recap: Alyse Lomeli Key Part of a Team Effort in Tigers Win

It was a proper cat-fight when Patterson duked it out withGregori on Tuesday. The Patterson Tigers came out on top against the Gregori Jaguars by a score of 48-39. Given the Tigers' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 99th, while the Jaguars are ranked 270th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Patterson's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Alyse Lomeli, who posted nine points in addition to six boards and six steals. Lomeli has been hot recently, having posted three or more steals the last four times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kailani Ortiz, who put up 12 points.

Despite the loss, Gregori still got an impressive performance from Veronica Whitten, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 15 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Gia Brown, who went 5 of 10 on her way to 10 points and seven rebounds.

Patterson now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Gregori, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-3.

Patterson didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 45-33 win against Pacheco on the 5th. As for Gregori, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 50-24 victory against Oakdale on the 5th.
