The Fairfax Lions had already proven themselves in the regular season, and didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. In a tight game that could have gone either way, they made off with a 27-26 win over Dr. Maya Angelou Community. The victory was nothing new for Fairfax as they're now sitting on three straight.
Fairfax can attribute much of their success to Ivan Levant, who threw for 286 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 14.3 yards per attempt. Levant has been hot recently, having posted three or more passing touchdowns the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Sebastian Ikolo, who picked up 104 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Several Phoenix players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Nicholas Quintanilla , who picked up 89 receiving yards and two touchdowns, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Another player making a difference was Branden Morales, who rushed for 174 yards while picking up 7.3 yards per carry.
Fairfax is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season. As for Dr. Maya Angelou Community, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-1.
Fairfax is on the road again on Saturday and play against Chatsworth at 2:00 p.m. on November 25th. Chatsworth will be hoping to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each matchup than the last. Dr. Maya Angelou Community does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
