The Affton Cougars will be playing in front of their home fans against the Hazelwood Central Hawks at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Affton focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 on Tuesday.
Last Tuesday, things could have been worse for Affton, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 55-38 loss to Seckman.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Anna M daughtry, who scored ten points along with seven assists and five rebounds. M daughtry is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Emma Grana, who scored nine points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, Hazelwood Central earned a 48-36 victory over Orr on Saturday. Given Hazelwood Central's advantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 134th in Missouri, while Orr is ranked 345th in Illinois), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Affton's defeat ended a seven-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 4-6. As for Hazelwood Central, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season.
